Our confidentiality, privacy, security, and record release policies are in place for our doctors, staff, and volunteers.
The data you provide us concerning yourself and your loved ones holds significant value in our operations. We rely on your personal health information to provide the best possible treatment and care. We adhere to strict protocols to ensure that only authorized staff who require access to your personal health information may view it. It is our understanding that you agree to share your information with healthcare providers and trainees involved in your care. However, we will seek your consent before collecting, utilizing, or disseminating your information for any reason beyond our declared activities or those authorized by PHIPA or the law.

Under PHIPA regulations, we may be required or permitted to share certain aspects of your information with third-party entities such as the Ministry of Health, registries such as Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario, Institute for Clinical Evaluation Sciences, Canadian Institute for Health Research, and researchers (subject to approval from our Research Ethics Board). We may also need to disclose your data to the Medical Officer of Health to report communicable diseases, to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, and to Law Enforcement Officers (upon presentation of a warrant or subpoena, or to aid in an investigation). Furthermore, where there is suspicion of child harm, we may be obligated to share information with entities such as the Children’s Aid Society or the children’s lawyer, and the public guardian and trustee or the Coroner, as necessary.
